Business model

Clear information should come with clear incentives.

The public guide is independent. We are not a utility, city, state agency, or rebate program.

How revenue may work

We may be paid when a user asks for help

Revenue may come from paid research, advisory work, project support, or a disclosed referral relationship with a service provider. A provider does not get to rewrite official program facts.

Public information

Utility, program, city, and source information is shown whether or not a provider relationship exists.

Provider relationships

If we may be paid for a referral or project, that relationship should be clear before you decide.

No guaranteed outcome

Payment does not change program eligibility. The program administrator makes the final decision.

Questions

Ask before you act

If a page does not make a relationship clear, contact us. We want users to know what is official information, what is an estimate, and where a business relationship may exist.
